Dearest Dad, Opa & Pater Familias,

Words are difficult to find at this time, but at the best of times it would be a challenge to describe you and all of your facets. Amongst other things we have been so immensely blessed with your humour and your magic with words. You have clearly touched many people all over the world, and your pastorales from Pop?s Inn will be sorely missed by many.

Aside from my own memories, in childhood and adulthood, of school and Scouts, holidays and vacations, I and we are grateful that we have had the chance to include you in our life, albeit at a distance. From the time that I became we and three, and then four and more, you have welcomed all of the additions to our clan with open arms. Three Dutch grandchildren have also got to know you as Opa Wim, and will remember the special moments they had with you.

Our family has lost a shining star, and our trips to South Africa and Johannesburg won?t be the same again!
