We know him as a very positive, professional & optimist person, who can share his great experience & all his knowledge with colleagues. Pieter Jan was always full of enthusiasm, humour, ideas and most of all always willing to help and to contribute in a most positive and pragmatic way. I had the pleasure to work with him in a number of countries, and will always be grateful for what my colleagues and I could learn from him. He has personally made a great contribution to Shell thanks to the pioneering, technically and logistically very demanding seismic surveys he managed in places as varied as Rotterdam, the Waddenzee and the North Caspian. My thoughts and deep feelings are with his family who suffered such a terrible, sudden loss.

To Wilma and Pieter\'s children and all relatives: i was working with Pieter in Kazakhstan, Atyrau, was your guest in The Hague.Pieter is a person to be proud of, always smiley and joking, a person i will always remember like this. my sincere condolences to you.

Pieter-Jan has worked together with me developing safety standards for non-seismic operations. He has established the foundation for making this type of operations saver.
Pieter-Jan was a special person. He inspired with his way of enjoying life, happiness, taking care of his colleagues and his professional attitude. His spirit will remain in my memory.

Pieter was one of first people I met when I joined KCS Consortium in Kazakhstan in 1995 and, few years later, we worked again togather in AgipKCO.
I?ll keep in my mind the memory of an extraordinary person with who I shared the adventure to work in a great Country like Kazakhstan.
